Tracey offers a heel quantitative ultrasound scan (or QUS), which has been shown to be a reliable indicator of bone density and fracture risk in particular, of hip fracture risk.

QUS is comparatively reasonably priced, and free from radiation, as it uses sound waves rather than X rays to measure bone density. This type of test has been recommended as a ‘first step’ to educate yourself about your bone health and safeguard yourself against osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis literally means ‘Porous Bones’. It occurs when the rate of bone renewal does not match the rate of breakdown, eventually resulting in weak, brittle bones. Osteoporosis has no symptoms unless you break or fracture a bone, and many individuals do not realise they have the condition until this happens. Too often, people are diagnosed with osteoporosis years after they have had the condition, if they are diagnosed at all: this is too late for them to have the most effective treatment.

In the UK, one in two women and one in five men over the age of 50 fractures a bone. Most of these fractures occur because the individual has osteoporosis. In many cases, the sufferer has the condition as a result of a lifetime’s failure to take preventative action. In fact, osteoporosis has been called “a paediatric disease with geriatric consequences.”

More women die each year from fractures caused by osteoporosis than die from breast cancer. This is a frightening and unnecessary statistic for a condition that is frequently preventable and – if diagnosed – treatable.

Workshop

Having struggled for a few years with multiple symptoms and very poor support from any GP ( and I've seen / spoken / emailed quite a few now!). I came across Dr Myhills book on chronic fatigue. Having read it I believe I have ME. I have followed the plan as set out by Dr Myhill with some improvement. Initially I thought I would not need to do the workshop as I have read quite a few books now. However I decided to try it and I'm so glad I did. It clarified alot of what I have read. It was great to have a group of like minded people trying to improve their lives from this awful condition. I would recommend this workshop not only for the information but also the psychological boost / support you get. Dr Myhill is very easy to listen to, progressed the workshop accordingly to ensure good information delivery and support and answered questions truefully...admitting when she did not know something. It was great to finally speak to a Dr who understands the condition and has worked so hard for do many years to get this far. It's such a shame other medical practitioners can't follow her example.

In short great workshop so do not hesitate to sign up.

This workshop proved life-changing for me

After developing PMR and knee bursitis as a reaction to the covid vaccine which curtailed physical exercise I decided I had to take steps to encourage healing and to enable me to stop taking steroids for the condition as soon as possible. I therefore booked myself on to an online workshop with Dr Sarah Myhill.

This was a mine of good information and I now follow the Paleo/Ketogenic diet she recommends. She spent a few minutes looking at my blood test results and also told me that I was certainly pre-diabetic if not already diabetic which came as a shock to me - my own GP had not mentioned this at all. However, six months later after following the diet (with just a few treats) I had another blood test at the surgery and was pleased to find that I am no longer in pre-diabetic range! To say I am delighted would be a complete understatement. I also feel much stronger in myself and feel much more informed about healthy nutrition not only for me but for all my family.

My sincere thanks go to Dr Myhill for providing an affordable and invaluable source of knowledge and information for patients and for her straightforward and no-nonsense approach.
