BOOK - Is the General Medical Council Fit For Purpose

I am the most investigated doctor in the history of the General Medical Council. 18 years of unblemished work in the NHS was followed by 25 years of unrelenting GMC prosecution, during which time I was suspended from the practice of medicine and sanctioned. Not because of complaints from, or harm to any patient, but because my publicly iterated opinions, did not square with Big Pharma and Big Government narratives. The current score is Myhill 41, GMC nil with 5 cases outstanding at the European Court of Human Rights.

Big Pharma controls modern medicine. It educates doctors in such a way that they no longer look for root causes of problems and are discouraged from using natural remedies. Instead, patients are shoe-horned into mindless, drug driven algorithms for symptom suppression. Patients get sicker and need more drugs to deal with drug side-effects. This makes big money for Big Pharma, and indeed many prescribing and dispensing doctors. They are all are conflicted. The GMC is part of this cabal – it is part bank-rolled by investments in Big Pharma and Big Food. It illustrates how all institutions become self-serving. No longer does the GMC act in the Best Interests of patients. No longer does it properly regulate doctors.

The GMC message to doctors is simple. Toe the line, obey GMC authority, conform to Big Pharma diktats or you will be kicked out of medicine. The result is that doctors conform, patients get a poor deal and the reputation of the medical profession is in free-fall. All in the name of politics, power and profits.

Established in 1858 the General Medical Council is the oldest regulatory body in the world. If it were my patient, and I its doctor, I would diagnose senile dementia.

In this book, Dr Myhill lays out in detail her personal experiences with the GMC, including all 46 investigations they have raised against her, very specific details of the 2010-2012 investigation (and how GMC staff rang up one of her supporters and asked him to 'call off the wolves' after the GMC received 5,000 letters and email of support for me in just 2 weeks), and other factors like the GMC routinely breaking data protection laws in cases against her. In addition, she widens the scope of her discussion, and looks at the 'Old Boy' system that is alive and kicking within the GMC, dishonesty, racism and sexism in the GMC's practices, high suicide rates among those doctors who are investigated (more doctors die each year by suicide during a GMC investigation than boxers die during or after a bout in the ring), and the total inefficacy of doctor appraisal. This book is fully researched, with over 250 references, and there is an Appendix detailing 30 detailed Freedom of Information Act requests made of the GMC, including items such as the fact that GMC Assistant Registrars, who make decisions about the future careers of doctors, need no medical qualifications at all, requiring instead 5 GCSE passes, the fact that staff costs exceed £60million per annum, and one request led to the GMC admitting that 'we have 20 cases that we have confirmed were closed with an assessment that it was unlikely that the GMC had complied with the data protection principles.', confirming their disregard for data protection legislation. And the list goes on....
