Glutathione is a multi tasking peptide which, with selenium, is essential for good antioxidant status as glutathione peroxidase. It is also an essential co-factor in the liver for detoxing. It is almost invariably deficient in people not taking supplements.

Because we live in such a toxic world, glutathione is in constant demand. Arguably glutathione should be part of the Basic Package of supplements in order to help mitigate this. Toxic metals for example need glutathione to be excreted and we are all unwittingly exposed to such.
